MY TWO CENTS

So heres the deal. I got plenty of advice.  Am I an expert?  No.

I have used Vonage for awhile now and it works well.  (Check out vonage.com).  You get a box which plugs into your DSL/Cable Modem (you must have high speed internet already) and then you plug a normal phone into that.  You can also connect it to your house phone line (if you disconnect the wireline service first).  For $15/month you get 500 minutes anywhere in USA or Canada.  And for $5/month more, you can get a virtual phone number anywhere in North America, so people calling you from that location are making a local call to get connected to you.  And the best part is, all incoming calls are free, even the ones which are 'long distance' from your virtual number to your home.

There's a few dollars of tax so it comes out to $23.58 including the virtual number.  It comes with call waiting, voicemail and all the other bells and whistles so you can toss your wireline service completely (which is probably costing you about the same as this service!!)

So how do you get a free month?  They have a referral program, which has to be done by email.  If you email me at freevonageXXXbrendonj.com (replace XXX with @) and tell me the email address you want to use for your vonage account, I will send you the referral email.  I will also answer any other questions you have.
